SSYC’S BASIC BOATING SEMINAR IS BACK!
SSYC’s Basic Boating Seminar has been developed to help our members feel that they can contribute when on a boat.
Your instructors will be SSYC Staff Commodores John Marshall and Tom Noto. Together, your instructors have over 100 years of sailing experience. This event is scheduled for Saturday, November 23rd starting at 9:00 and ending at 5:00.
We’ll begin with 2 hours of classroom instruction covering the
following:
Parts of a sailboat
Essential knots and hitches that you need to know
Points of Sail
Right of way (ROW) Rules for sailing
The classroom instruction will be at Tom Noto’s house at 200 Flower
Street in Costa Mesa.
At 11:00 AM, we’ll meet at Balboa Marina to begin our “on the water” instruction on the Beneteau Oceanis 40.1 “Sunrise”.
You can expect us to be back in our slip by 4:00 PM where we learn how to put a boat away for the next adventure.
The BasicBoating Seminar will end by 5:00 PM.
The price for the Basic Boating Seminar is $25.00 and includes lunch.
Class size is limited to 8 people as the capacity plate on “Sunrise” is 10,
it will be on a first-come, first-served basis. We anticipate a second
seminar in January if the seminar is oversubscribed.
