Cruising - Boats, Family, Fun!
South Shore plans many cruises throughout the year, including some 'land cruises’ averaging about 1 per month. Some of our favorite cruises are to Catalina, the Channel Islands, Alamitos Bay, San Diego, Oktoberfest in Lake Arrowhead and our signature event The Great American Raft Up in Newport Harbor.

Social – Eats, Greets, and Good Times
South Shore Yacht Club’s Social Committee hosts a 2nd Friday Dinner party every month often with a specific theme. Some of our popular themes have been Gilligan’s Island, Under the Sea, Night in Havana, Pirate Party, Tiki, and Mardi Gras Masquerade. Each year we host 4 signature events: Installation of our new Commodore with an annual Black Tie event Commodore’s Ball, Opening Day for SSYC, an Endless Summer Beach Party to keep the summer going throughout the year, and a Holiday Boat Parade Party that has one of the best view of the Newport Beach Boat Parade.

Great American Raft Up Our Great American Raft Up is held mid-summer every year. Boats head out to the anchorage in Newport Harbor and tie up. Members spend the day on the water listening to live music from a band housed on one boat and hoping from boat to boat socializing. | Shrimptastic Shrimptastic got it’s start in 2017 with a cruise to Two Harbors Catalina and a shrimp roast. It has been one of our signature events ever since. The weekend is filled with fun activities around the island and on the water and always includes shrimp in one form or another. | Endless Summer Beach Party Summer never ends in Southern California. We celebrate each September with a Pig Roast on the beach. Members enjoy an afternoon on the beach, dancing to a live band, and enjoying delicious food. | Holiday Boat Parade Party Newport Beach hosts a Holiday Boat Parade around Newport Harbor the 3rdweekend on December. There is no better place to see it than from out club at our Holiday Boat Parade Party. |
